Back From Alaska - Disappointing Handicapping Results
Arrived back from Alaska after flying all day on Monday. We landed at about midnight so by the time we arrived back at Brad's it was 1am. Up at about 6:30am to head to Wawa with the grandson and then on the road for 3 1/2 hours to drive home (with the boy). I tell you this because MAYBE the long trip and extra long return travel could have added to the being absent from handicapping for two weeks might explain the lack of success this weekend. The Friday card at Monmouth was fine, hit one out of three when odds-on favorite Unsolved Mystery was a runaway winner as my best on the day, and only lost a couple dollars.
Saturday started fine. Ran second to start, missed, then won two in a row at Monmouth. Azteca Warrior was the easiest of winners in R2 and then Gins and Tins was a nice $6.60 to get me over $30 back.
Missed on the next four (one second at 5/2) before Far Bridge was a runaway winner of the Grade 2 Bowling Green going eleven furlongs with my prime-time wager on board.
But that was the end of the winning. Didn't cash a ticket the rest of the day - including the night stakes events at Canterbury, AND went winless on Sunday. It would not have made a winning day or weekend but it sure would have helped if the three oh-so-close photo finishes with large wagers had not missed! But as a bonus to being home, I got to spend time with all the grandsons this week as well!
Next weekend is THE signature weekend of the Monmouth Summer Meet - it's Haskell Invitational weekend!

In addition to hearing from many of my online pals on the trip - very appreciative of all of them, especially the ones who took time to comment - I also had several exchanges with several of my gal-pals over this past week since arriving home.
