October 30-31
After returning from our Eastern European river cruise, five days later Kim and I drove to Orlando in preparation for our trip to North Carolina. I came so close on several occasions that would have made for a good to big weekend but ended up second FIVE times and third once. And I did so weakening on the front end or being the closer who couldn't quite catch the leader. I will say the closest photo finish of the weekend was in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile and I got the nose hair in front for the win. Fortunately thanks to the BC "bet back" promotion I "cashed" tickets" on those six bets.
Future Stars Friday
Social Media...Ahead of our visit to North Carolina and the long awaited and much anticipated reunion with my most favorite former student and adult gal-pal Kimmy I had two interactions with former "kids" of mine. I met with Christina and her family for breakfast on the Sunday prior to our leaving for Orlando. And on Saturday night after the Breeders' Cup I had a long exchange with former student Lauren who I see on FB every once in a while but haven't interacted with for a long time. It was good to catch up. And I discovered she and Kimmy were best friends in HS and that Lauren lived near Kimmy for a year but the two never got together. How ironic.
