We headed to Orlando Friday around lunch time. The target for the weekend was to go to our grandson Cameron's volleyball tournament Saturday & Sunday while staying at our oldest son Jeff's home. Then transfer to our youngest son Brad's house Sunday so we could meet our realtor on Monday & Tuesday before leaving for San Diego & the Breeders' Cup on Wednesday afternoon. I played a few races over the weekend, but not with much success. Friday the lone winner came in the third at Keeneland when Chunk of Gold went wire to wire. That was it for the day.
Saturday was closing day at Keeneland for the fall and it was Empire Showcase Day in New York. We were so happy that the volleyball team rallied to get medals Sunday morning - go Cam!
Won three of the first four races starting with the The Wine Steward. Tracked the leaders into the stretch and drew off to capture the Hudson Stakes. Missed in the opener at Keeneland before Twenty Six Black rallied to win the NY Turf Sprint Championship as the 7/5 favorite in the 3rd in New York. Came right back with the prohibitive favorite, Letmecounttheways in the 2yo stakes, the Maid of the Mist. That was it until the end of the day....
The finale at Keeneland, the last race of the meet was a 2yo maiden special weight event going nine furlongs on the turf. Chambersville tracked the leaders, swung three wide into the lane and drew off at nice 5/2 odds to cut a little bit off the losses for the day.
So excited for next weekend when my youngest son Brad and I will be together for five days in San Diego for the World Championships at Del Mar.
Social Media this week.....
My gal-pal Teri, who used to anchor the weekend morning news, continues our friendship despite getting married and taking a new job in Washington D.C. This week we I was happy when she updated me on how happy she is; and I commented how impressed I was that she & her husband laid a new floor in their DC home.
While only one message came back from my gal-pal Lauren Pastrana, several times she quickly "liked" my messages. The one that meant the most to me was when I commented on her participation at another charitable community event and how thankful I was that she was my friend, at about 10:40pm at night and within two minutes she clicked the "heart" for liking the comment.
